Confessions Of A Rock N Roller

This week end has been a busy one, nice and fun one. My friends in FEMME, were playing their first gig as a full band in Quebec city Friday night. Of course I was going to go to support them! So Friday morning, I got picked up with their rented van and we headed to get everyone and everyone’s stock. Once everyone was there (always have to wait for the girls…!) we left direction Québec. The road was a lot of fun, music, sing alongs, dance moves, videos and pictures were taken, you know how road trips goes…!

We had a cool hotel room (for 8 person!!) and it was super close to the venue. We headed there around 7h30pm and the band got to set their stuff and do soundcheck, and I have to admit, I LOVE their music so it was pretty exciting seing those people in the bar, just loving the soundcheck! The show was set to be at midnight so we went back to the hotel to get the party started. Everyone got ready and then it was SHOWTIME!! Seriously, FEMME was the opening band for Metz but they kicked ass!! The crowd was responding very very well! Some boys were quite impressed with the drummer; she’s a chick and she’s incredible :) 

Metz totally blowned my mind! I didnt know what to expect, their myspace page describes them as experimental, post punk, garage… could it please be more vague???! They were, hummm, looking for a word, WOW!!

Saturday morning was quite rough, after a night of partying, we checked out and that’s when I regreted my offer of driving the van!!! I had never driven a van!! it’s pretty different from driving a car! after we went for breakfast, we headed back on the road, direction Montreal. I have forgot to mention that just before the show in QC, I had booked the band another show for Saturday at Underworld with other friends of mine’s bands. I am proud to say that I drove the van the whole way and got used to it pretty quickly! I’m an okay van driver!!!

The show in Montreal was with 6 other bands! That is a lotttt of bands to play on one night! Even Taste of Chaos wasnt that many… The show went well, Best Regards played a great set, I discovered 2 very talented girls who remind me of Meg & Dia, their band is called Ever After, you can check them out here: http://www.myspace.com/everaftermtrl and also another band I discovered is I Am Committing A Sin, http://www.myspace.com/iamcommittingasin, I had to buy their album right away.. seriously, check ‘em out!NOW! Hello Control also were playing an acoustic set and it was seriously amazing!!They played acoustic since our beautiful world has borders and these borders wont let people go from a country to another to play music unless you fill out a shitload of papers…  It was super nice hanging out with them and Carlovely!
